Generally yes — a gym membership paid by your employer is a taxable benefit reported on the P11D, and you pay tax on the value. An on-site facility available to all staff is exempt. Some employers use a salary sacrifice arrangement or a cycle to work scheme instead, which are treated differently.

Physiotherapist is a protected title — the practitioner must be registered with the HCPC, and you can search the register free. Chiropractors must be registered with the GCC and osteopaths with the GOsC. Massage therapy isn't regulated, so look for a Level 3 qualification or higher, membership of a body such as the CThA or FHT, and current insurance. Personal trainers should hold a Level 3 qualification and ideally CIMSPA registration.

A standard 60-minute facial covers cleansing, exfoliation, steam, extractions, a mask, massage and moisturiser, at £45–110. Advanced treatments such as microneedling, chemical peels and laser start around £120. Laser and IPL are regulated by local authority licensing in much of the country, so ask to see the licence.

Botox is a prescription-only medicine, so it must be prescribed by a doctor, dentist, nurse prescriber or pharmacist prescriber after a face-to-face consultation — a remote prescription for a client the prescriber has never met is not acceptable. Ask who the prescriber is, whether they're on site, and what happens if there's a complication. Licensing of non-surgical cosmetic procedures in England is tightening, so check the practitioner's current standing.

Dietitian is a protected title regulated by the HCPC, and a dietitian can treat clinical conditions and take NHS referrals. Nutritionist isn't protected, so look for registration on the UKVRN as an ANutr or RNutr. Expect £50–130 for an initial consultation, with packages for follow-ups.
